Highlights: No one was expecting this Wilson team to challenge what last year's District 3 champs accomplished, but at this point the Bulldogs are off to a better start.

They won their eighth straight to open the season Wednesday, holding off upset-minded Gov. Mifflin in a Berks Conference Division I game at Shillington.

The Bulldogs (5-0, 8-0) trailed through much of the second and third quarters before Stevie Mitchell gave them the lead for good with a 3-pointer that made it 47-45 in the final minute of the third quarter.

That was part of a game-turning 11-point run that sent the Bulldogs ahead by as many as eight points and derailed the hopes of the Mustangs (0-4, 1-6.)

Mitchell finished with a game-high 24 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

Justin Spotts led Mifflin with 19 points; Greg Suber had 17.
