Highlights: At Fort Washington, Gwynedd Mercy Academy defeated Pope John Paul II by a score of 47-42 to capture the District 1-AAA championship Saturday at Upper Dublin.



The Golden Panthers were unable to overcome Gwynedd’s 9-0 run to open the fourth quarter, which put the Monarchs in front for the remainder of the game.



Gwynedd Mercy was able to seal the game from the free throw line, where as a team they converted 19-24 attempts for the game.



Offensively, the Golden Panthers were led by senior Susan Bossler with 13 points. Junior Gabby Troisi added 12 points as well.



Pope John Paull II earned the number two seed from District 1, where the Golden Panthers will face District 3 fifth seed Berks Catholic in the opening round.



The matchup with Berks Catholic provides a reunion of sorts Bossler, who spent her first two years of high school at Berks Catholic.
