Highlights:
Wyomissing is back in the Berks Conference playoffs and could get the first-round opponent it wants most: Berks Catholic.
The Spartans took care of business Friday night, rolling past Conrad Weiser 64-40 in Robesonia to clinch second place in Division II.
If the seedings hold up, they’ll head to the Berks quarterfinals in two weeks likely against the Saints, who are undefeated in league play and Berks II champs for the eighth straight year.
The Spartans (7-2, 15-6), with a veteran lineup returning, had designs on that title but lost both head-to-head meetings with the Saints.
Now they’re hoping to get a third crack at them.
“We wanted the division (title), but we’re in the same place in the county bracket, anyway,” said Wyomissing senior Max Hurleman, who scored 14 points and had four assists against the Scouts (6-3, 9-11). “It’s strange how that worked, but we’re ready; we’re excited.”
Both teams have one league game remaining but Wyomissing holds the tiebreaker advantage over Weiser by virtue of two head-to-head wins.
