Highlights:
Tyler Kipp and TJ White combined to hit six straight free throws in the final minute as Muhlenberg completed its comeback over Gov. Mifflin in an intense Berks Conference Division 1 battle at Shillington tonight.
The Muhls (2-0, 8-0) rallied from a nine-point deficit early in the fourth quarter; they trailed by 14 in the first quarter before regaining the lead in the second quarter.
Muhlenberg hit 10-of-11 free throws in the final quarter; Mifflin made just 3-of-8.
Anthony Espinoza and White hit back-to-back 3-pointers with a little over two minutes left to give Muhlenberg the lead for good at 48-47.
White finished with a team-high 12 points; Espinoza had 11.
Justin Spotts scored 18 to lead the Mustangs (1-1, 7-2), who have lost two straight since a 7-0 start.
The Mustangs were red-hot at the start, hitting seven of their first eight shots in taking a 19-5 lead.
The Muhls roared back to lead 22-20 three minutes into the second quarter.
The Mustangs began the night ranked No. 1 in the District 3 Class 6A power ratings. The Muhls were No. 3 in Class 5A.
The Muhls opened 9-1 last year, winning nine straight after losing their season opener.
