Highlights: Aarick Salata hit three 3-pointers in the final period but Boyertown's comeback bid against Plymouth-Whitemarsh fell short in a 59-53 loss in the opening round of the District 1 Class 6A Tournament at Boyertown.

The 11th-seeded Bears (16-8) are eliminated.

The 22nd-seeded Colonials (12-11) advance to play at No. 6 Coatesville in second round Tuesday.

Boyertown trailed 24-18 at halftime and 36-29 after three quarters.

Salata finished with a team-high 17 points. Alex Obarow had 14 for the Bears.

Caelin Peters scored 16 points and Luke DiCianno 15 for the Colonials, who made 21-of-27 free throws.
