Highlights: Manny Soto's 44-yard touchdown run with 2:39 left, his second long scoring run of the game, gave unbeaten Exeter a victory over Conrad Weiser in a Berks Football League Section 1 opener at Reifton.

Soto also had a 71-yard scoring run on the second play of the game and finished with 159 yards on 11 carries.

Exeter's top-ranked defense was the key, stopping the Scouts in the red zone three times to force field goals by Jake Roth, who was good on kicks from 34, 32, and 37 yards.

The Scouts (3-1) got a 95-yard kickoff return from Aidan Brosious less than two minutes into the game to tie it 7-7 but couldn't crack Exeter's defense for any other big plays.

The Scouts led 16-7 after Roth's third field goal, with 7:44 to go in the third quarter. The Eagles (4-0) pulled within 16-10 on Logan Gettis' 40-yard field goal with 1:16 left in the third.
