Highlights:
Conrad Weiser used a pair of big scoring plays by Aidan Brosious and two fourth-quarter goal-line stands to hold off Muhlenberg 17-6 in a key Berks Football League Section 1 game tonight at Robesonia.
The Muhls (3-2, 6-2) were stopped inches shy of the goal line early in the fourth quarter, then were turned back on fourth down again with 3:13 to play.
Brosious gave the Scouts (4-1, 7-1) the lead three minutes into the game with a 74-yard scoring run on a third-and-19.
After the Muhls used Ben Ortiz’s 1-yard run to pull within 7-6, Brosious broke their backs again with a 91-yard kickoff return for a TD just 14 seconds later to take a 14-6 lead into the half. It was his third kickoff return for a score this season.
The Scouts kept alive their hopes of sharing a Section 1 title with the win; they play Reading High next week, then close the season against first-place Gov. Mifflin, which is unbeaten in league play.
