Highlights: At Shillington, Jan Johnson ran for three first-half touchdowns and Gov. Mifflin held on to beat Exeter in a Berks Football League Section 1 battle for first place tonight at Mifflin Stadium.

The Mustangs (5-0, 8-1) led 28-0 late in the first half and 31-6 early in the third quarter before quarterback Chase Yocum led a late comeback, throwing three touchdown passes.

Yocum’s 2-yard TD run with 8:08 left pulled the Eagles (4-1, 7-2) within three points.

Johnson and the Mustangs ran out the clock after that, running 17 plays and converting a pair of fourth down conversions.

Johnson ran for 168 yards on 27 carries and passed for 97 yards and a TD. He also kicked a 40-yard field goal, blocked a PAT and kicked four PATs.

The win was the 30th straight in league play for the Mustangs and clinched a tie for first place.
