Highlights: Reading High put itself in better playoff position with a 34-14 win over Pottsville Friday night at Shirk Stadium.

The Red Knights needing to win and get help from others for a District 3-AAAA playoff spot, kept their end of the bargain by taking an early lead and making it stand.

Jai Whitlock scored two touchdowns for Reading (2-3, 5-4), while Dontae Owens and Khary Mauras each had one. Elisiah Bayne threw a touchdown pass to Kirk Boston.

The Crimson Tide (0-6, 0-9) scored two late touchdowns on passes from backup quarterback Eric Wapinsky to Brian Hecklar twice against Reading’s second-team defense.
