Highlights:
At Gurski Stadium, Jake Templin threw three TD passes and broke off a key 58-yard touchdown run as Wilson defeated Manheim Township 28-14, extending its Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 victory string to an unprecedented 48.
The Bulldogs (5-0, 8-0) took over sole possession of first place and can clinch a tie for their seventh straight title by winning next week at Penn Manor.
Wilson’s defense was superb, coming up with a goal-line stand early in the second quarter of a scoreless game.
Blue Streaks (4-1, 5-3) quarterback Eric Benjamin, who had completed 73 percent of his passes coming in, was good on just 17-of-40 passes for 210 yards – 109 of those yards in the final quarter, after the Bulldogs had built a 28-7 lead.
Templin threw a 33-yard TD pass to Jake Gehman in the second quarter, a 13-yard scoring pass to Jon Fox in the second quarter and a 6-yard TD to Shane Dantzler in the fourth.
Templin’s scoring run, off a brilliant play-fake in the read option, put the Bulldogs on top 21-7.
Dantzler finished with 144 rushing yards on 21 carries. Templin ran for 90.
Township managed just 77 rushing yards, and Benjamin was sacked five times.
