Highlights: Wyomissing used Tom Paolini’s first-quarter interception and Anthony Colon’s third-quarter punt block to swing momentum in their favor and defeat previously unbeaten Berks Catholic 35-21 for the District 3-AA championship game tonight at Hersheypark Stadium.

It is the Spartans’ seventh district title, and second in three seasons.

The Spartans (12-1) gave up a scoring drive on the opening series of the game, then stormed back, using Brandon Workman’s 63-yard TD run late in the first quarter and Colon’s block, and Mason Duguay’s recovery for a TD early in the third, to take the lead.

They stretched it to 27-7 late in the third quarter before the top-seeded Saints (12-1) stormed back, scoring twice to pull within 27-21 with 3:41 remaining.

The second-seeded Spartans answered with a TD to put the game away two minutes later.

Wyomissing advances to meet the winner of the District 4-AA championship next Saturday at Shamokin High School at 1. Loyalsock and Montoursville are playing for the title tonight.

Paolini had a pair of TD and scored on a 15-yard pass from Scott Kuczala that made it 21-7 late in the third quarter.

Berks Catholic had the total yardage advantage, 383-339, and quarterback Patrick Causa threw for 180 yards, but he was picked off three times.
