Highlights: POTTSVILLE – Tim Kowaski scored on a pair of short touchdown runs and Wyomissing came up with a huge defensive effort to beat Pottsville 14-7 in a non-league season opener tonight at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Spartans didn’t score until the first play of the fourth quarter, when Kowalski scored on a 7-yard run.

The Crimson Tide answered 16 seconds later, scoring on Ian Renninger’s 69-yard catch-and-run.

The Spartans regained the lead on Kowalski’s 1-yard run with 8:00 remaining.

The go-ahead drive was set up by De’Shaun Wilson’s 31-yard completion to Dominic Wise, to the 25.

Wilson, a wide receiver who lined up several times in the Wildcat formation, also had two of the Spartans’ four interceptions.

The Tide turned it over five times.
