Highlights:
Gov. Mifflin sent shock waves across the state, knocking off top-ranked Harrisburg 26-14 in a District 3 Class 5 A semifinal at Severance Field.
“This is every coach's dream, and every player's dream,” said Mustangs coach Mick Vecchio after his team dug out of an early 14-point deficit and controlled the game with its steady Veer running attack.
Quarterback Kam Wolfe's second touchdown, a 1-yard plunge, gave the fourth-seeded Mustangs (11-1) a 21-14 lead just three minutes into the second half.
It was the first time the top-seeded Cougars (11-1) had trailed in the second half all season.
The Mustangs advance to the Class 5A championship game Friday at 7 at Hersheypark Stadium against unbeaten and second-seeded Manheim Central.
The Mustangs fell behind 14-0 when Ronald Kent took a punt back 61 yards for a score early in the second period.
