Highlights:
Alex MacKenzie picked off three passes and made several big plays at quarterback to lift Conrad Weiser to a Berks Football League Section 1 victory over Exeter at Robesonia.
The Scouts (3-0, 5-1) were terrific on defense, forcing four turnovers, including three inside their 30, against the league’s top-rated offense.
Matt Noll’s 22-yard field goal late in the third quarter gave the Scouts a 17-6 lead.
Exeter freshman Colin Payne started at quarterback and threw for 132 first-half yards and a TD but was picked off three times.
He was replaced by Alex Javier in the fourth quarter before returning late in the game, when he threw another TD in the final minute.
The Eagles (2-1, 3-3) again played without starting quarterback Kolby Haag, who suffered an injured finger on his throwing hand two weeks ago and hasn’t played since.
The Eagles went up 6-0 in the second quarter on Payne’s 25-yard strike to Javier, but they missed the PAT.
The Scouts went up 7-6 on a short pass from MacKenzie to Gio Pachecho that went for a 32-yard TD.
