Highlights:
Alex MacKenzie ran for 138 yards and a TD and Conrad Weiser's defense came up with a tremendous performance in a 17-7 win over Gov. Mifflin to claim the Berks Football League Section 1 championship tonight at Mifflin Stadium.
The Scouts (6-0, 8-2) scored the final 17 points and kept the Mustangs (5-1, 6-4) off the board over the final three quarters.
It's Weiser's first Section 1 title since 2009.
The loss snapped Mifflin's six-game winning streak.
Matt Noll's 32-yard field goal with 7:55 left gave Weiser a 10-point lead.
MacKenzie scored on a 56-yard run and intercepted a pass.
For the second week in a row the Mustangs played the second half without Berks rushing leader Nick Singleton, who left the game twice in the first half with injuries.
The Weiser defense yielded just two first downs in the second half.
The Mustangs went up 7-0 when Kolbie Reeser capped a 17-play drive with a 3-yard run in the final minute of the first quarter.
The Scouts tied it 7-7 less then two minutes later on a dazzling run by Alex MacKenzie.
The Mustangs used another long drive to move into scoring position late in the first half before Aiden Kreitz ended it with an interception at the 2.
