Highlights:
Nick Singleton continued his assault on Berks Football League Section 1 with 183 yards and four touchdowns to lead Governor Mifflin to a 47-14 victory at Morgantown.
The Mustangs (3-0, 3-3) only led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter, but Singleton and has backfield mate Brandon Strausser each had two rushing touchdowns in the second quarter. Strausser exploded for 116 yards on eight carries after entering play with 35 yards on six carries.
The Mustangs were sloppy with the ball committing three turnovers and they also had 14 accepted penalties for 125 yards. They were able to overcome the errors by forcing Twin Valley into five turnovers of their own. The first forced turnover was a great interception by Cam’Ron Stewart who dropped into coverage after lining up at defensive end. The Raiders were inside the Mustangs’ 10-yard line at that point.
Twin Valley (0-3, 1-5) scored two fourth quarter touchdowns including a 78-yard touchdown from Ryan Scheivert to Nick Kurtz. Kurtz finished with 141 yards receiving and Ryan Scheivert threw for 206 yards.
