Highlights:
Exeter used it’s big-play offense and a relentless defense to overwhelm Lower Dauphin in a non-league game at Don Thomas Stadium.
The Eagles (2-1) used a pair of Gavin McCusker touchdown passes and his 30-yard TD run to lead 27-6 at the half.
They continued to pour it on in the second half, with Alex Javier scoring his second touchdown on a 55-yard interception return; he had a 16-yard TD catch in the first half.
The Falcons (0-3) got practically nothing against Exeter’s defense. They had a 19-minus rushing yards in the first quarter and were held to negative yards in the first half, thanks to three sacks. Ten of their 24 first-half plays were recorded as losses. Overall, they finished with just 26 total yards, and three turnovers.
Tackle Gabe Eagle led Exeter’s fierce pass rush, with a pair of first-half sacks and a pair of hurries. Ty Yocum and J.R. Strauss also got in on a sack, and McCusker intercepted a pass.
The Eagles went up 7-0 midway through the first quarter when Scott streaked through the Lower Dauphin secondary uncovered and McCusker hit him in stride for a 36-yard score.
Strauss’ 62-yard run with 1:44 left in the first quarter made it 14-0.
McCusker got free around left end for a 30-yard TD run and 21-0 lead 90 seconds into the second quarter.
