Highlights: ELVERSON – Behind a balanced offense, the Exeter Eagles picked up a 45-7 win over Twin Valley on Friday night in Berks Section 1 play.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in section 1 play. Meanwhile, the Raiders fall to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in section 1 play.

Twin Valley drove to midfield on the first offensive drive of the game before a failed 4th and 2 attempt ended the drive. Exeter took advantage and drove 51 yards in seven plays to take a 7-0 lead on a three-yard rushing touchdown from Ty Yocum. Following a three-and-out, the Eagles just needed three plays as Alex Javier scored on a 13-yard run out of a wildcat snap. Eagle quarterback Gavin McCusker extended the Eagles lead to 21-0 on the first play of the second quarter on an 11-yard run. Exeter was able to dig out from their own five-yard line, and used a 41-yard pass from Javier to J.R. Strauss to propel the scoring drive.

At the start of the second half, McCusker added one last score to his big night as he went untouched for a 29-yard touchdown run to make it 38-7 Exeter. Caruso got the Raiders on the board with a 39-yard touchdown run on 4th and 10 with 1:16 left in the third quarter. He set up the score with a 40-yard run earlier in the drive that set them up in Exeter territory. The Eagles capped off the scoring with a touchdown in the 4th quarter on a seven-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Colin Payne to Joey Schlaffer in the left corner of the end zone.

The Eagles out-gained the Raiders 455-204 in total yards with 285 coming on the ground. Exeter held the Raiders to -6 rushing yards in the first half. McCusker accounted for 176 total yards and three touchdowns. He went 5-of-9 through the air with 122 passing yards. Strauss led the Eagles with 86 yards on the ground on six carries, while Javier totaled 117 all-purpose yards with one touchdown. Caruso led the Raiders with 173 all-purpose yards as he rushed the ball for 89 yards on 12 carries.
